Thanks

I always get the train down. These are taken from the perimeter road by one of the staff car parks. There is a multi storey by the terminal and I can't imagine you can park anywhere on the road with the amount of security driving around!

Most people (me included) are attracted to the downwind end of the runway in use, for landing shots. This set shows it's sometimes worthwhile shooting departures from the upwind end - there's some fantastic shots here, e.g. the first Cathay A350 shot, the rear 3/4 shot of the Virgin B747, and Germania B737 works well partly thanks to its livery.

Thanks for that
To be honest i was hoping they were landing at this end, but in fairness i quite liked getting the take off shots, probably should have gone a bit further along the road to get more of a side on view, but at least now i know its not a disaster if theyre taking off over the railway end!!!

very nice Jon, I haven't tried that spot and at Gatwick I've always gone for the landing shots out on the approaches but you've proved that the take offs are possible on 09.
Same as Nick, I think the Virgin is the best of the bunch because it's got a bit more of a side view to it - as you said maybe a bit further back might have been perfect but sometimes you have to learn 'on the hoof' to get the best spots.
thanks for posting them
Andy
