Schiphol July 2016 - Citizen M hotel and other spots

Travelled via Schiphol to get too and from a little mountaineering in Iran in July, stayed overnight at the CitizenM hotel. I can certainly recommend this - I booked via their website and requested a room with a view of the planes and certainly got this:

Thanks. The A300 was a great flight, a really old school flavour from the complex booking process, to the fully manual check-in and the attentive staff and lovely meal on board. After being welcomed by the pilot with “In the name of God, welcome on board the National Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran", the pre-flight information video was fascinating with models in hijabs and notification to turn off your Gameboys, sadly I was too far away to get a good video of it, but some quick highlights in an instagram video - https://www.instagram.com/p/BH_Ncqkg5yz/

I booked the flight for fun really, would have been much easier just to fly with Turkish Airines, but turned out to be a tremendously good idea since the day we flew was the day after the coup attempt and most Turkish flights were cancelled. Our fellow British traveller in Iran had found himself on a £1,500 one-way last minute booking via Moscow.
