Good evening Mike,
These pictures always impress me! I also live in an ideal location for viewing many transatlantic flights at 30,000+ feet. I hope to try some of these pictures for myself if the weather would improve.
All the best,
DWilson212

What settings and kit are you using Mike, if you don't mind me asking? I presume there's some cropping involved? They're excellent shots and I'd like to get some tips.

Hi PorkScratching,
I use an astronomical telescope teamed up with my Pentax K-5, Nikon D7000 & D5100 SLR Camera Bodies.
The shots here are between 1/320 and 1/500 sec @ ISO200.
Believe it or not , there is not as much cropping as you might think.
Operating at this magnification , getting the aircraft full in frame with no camera shake is a challenge.
Regards,
Mike

brilliant Mike, once again. These are so different I find them exceptionally interesting.
The quality for that distance is wonderful thanks for the info on how you achieved them, a good lesson for anybody wanting to try their hand at it.

Fantastic. Are there any guides on how to set up your DSLR with a telescope anywhere? Thanks.

Thanks very much for the info Mike. I did wonder if you were doing something like that (it reminded me of the people who do something similar to photograph the ISS). I have a 13cm Dobsonian, but it's fairly basic with a 1.25" eyepiece holder, so probably not up to supporting the weight of an SLR. Maybe I should try though - your and A330A340's shots are excellent.

Lost for words guys!!
Those are truly amazing. You don't even need FR24 or your own box to spot with you guys!!
The detail is fantastic!
