You're right about the light, it's a little too harsh.
However it's nice to see a different angle on a great airport for photos, I especially like the E170 with the WX f50 & AF avro in the background.
I have to ask where you were for these as I have no idea of anything further east of Royal Albert DLR stop!
I think in less harsh light this good be a really good spot

a nice set, thanks for sharing. Is there anywhere to park on the north side? I have always paid through the nose to use the airport car park on the south side

Hi Dave / Andy,
Sadly midday looking south was the only option at the time as I was on a boat in the dock doing another photo tasking and a few different angles on the planes was just too good to pass up - despite the light.
You can access the dock edge at the University of East London campus (Cyprus DLR) and the public path runs from abeam the runway turning circle all the way east past abeam of the end of the runway and then the road bridge that crosses the docks gives a more elevated view or under approach shots.
Yes, in better lighting conditions the eastern end dock edge should give good results.
The northern dock edge is being developed so in time the entire length will be public realm - a few years off but something to keep an eye on as more will become accessible in stages.
Parking in the immediate area isn't that easy as most roads have double yellows and the car parks belong to various businesses but a drink or something to eat at the Chinese restaurant is probably cheaper than the airport carpark.
Sorry I cannot be of more help but I either walk or use the bus so not sure about parking.
AC

Thanks for the info Andrew, I'm also on foot/public transport so this is very useful. Never quite sure which stops on the DLR are any good for LCY but will check out Cyprus next week!
Thanks again
