Evening Light at London City

I always like to pay a couple of visits to London City whilst the days are still long to get photos from the the Royal Albert Dock opposite the airport. It really is an excellent spot, with unobstructed views of the runway and the apron.

Here are a selection of shots from a couple of visits, one day when 09 was in use and another when 27 was in use.

With the cut-backs at Cityjet, British Airways is now clearly the dominant carrier with 6 E170s and 10 E190s. 2 Saab 2000s are currently wet leased from Eastern Airways and operate the Rotterdam and the Isle of Man routes.

Swiss are also dominant with flights to Geneva, Zurich and Basel:

Luxair Dash 8s are always nice to see, with London City being their sole UK detsination.

Cityjet are undergoing considerable change at the moment. The RJ85s are rapidly being repainted into an 'interim scheme' in preparation for a rebrand. Just when you thought that then CItyjet schemem couldn't get any worse...

The special Leinster Rugby scheme remains...

The Fokker 50s are also still going strong...

However a welcome change is the rebrand of a couple back into VLM colours on 2 aircraft initially. Cityjet's new owner, Intro Aviation seeks to resurrect the VLM brand:

Alitalia also has an increased presence, with flights to Rome and Milan:

And finally, my personal favourite, Blue Islands and their ATR42 from Jersey. Aurigny should shortly be commencing a Guernsey service from London CIty.

Thanks for looking. Unfortunately not a complete set - with Skywork, Sun Air of Scandinavia and Lufthansa missing. I hope these are still of interest!

Very nice set in lovely light. :thumb:

I really should get myself down there sometime.

A fantastic set, enhanced by the evening light. I've not been for a while, can you still use the steps of the office block there on the northside of the Royal Albert Dock to get a useful extra bit of height?

Thanks all for the comments.

The light was everything in these shots, and just a shame there's only a couple of months of the year when the days are long enough to get photos of this from the dockside.
