Stansted 18-5-2014 (evening) ABX B767

A brief visit to Stansted last sunday evening as I wanted a pic of the ABX B767. During the week it sits on the cargo stands all day in an unphotographable position and departs late at night to Liege and is back around 3.30 am so not in daylight. Sunday evenings are an exception as having weekeded in Liege it flies back to STN at about 8.15pm making that the one opportunity all week to get a pic of it - so off I went. Unfortunately it was a bit later this week and landed at 8.28pm by which time the light was going fast, so this was the best I could manage:





in contrast this A319 arrived 1/2 hour earlier in lovely light - wish they had been the other way round


maybe another Sunday visit in about 3 weeks will be worthwhile as the light will be lasting longer!

Bad luck with the light Andy, but I'd be pleased with any shots whatsoever of it, for the reasons you state!

Thanks Nick - Sunday 22nd June should be a good evening to try - just after the longest day of the year, will note it on my schedule as a 'to do' and hope for sunny weather

I think I'll add it to the calendar too, so might see you there! I'm doing something similar on Saturday 14th - going to Heathrow until sunset after the Northolt open day to catch the exotic heavies.

somebody pointed out that he omitted one departure time which i felt was a bit hard on the guy!
