What's access like at the aerodrome? Was thinking of a trip down there soon.

That EC 120 is rather nice. The Yak is well caught but great all round post.

Hi all dont believe all you read. Visited sleap today and was rebuffed about getting to go round hangars. Also sent email 4 days prior to visit and no response so i guess its just a field for the chosen few and dont visit with any hopes of doing much.

Sorry to hear you had a bad
experience, when we go to the airfield it took us ages to get to have a look around hangars etc but as my friend isalso close friends with some of the members there it does make it easier to get access! We are also due to be none flying members too which gives us accessto the airfield as a whole because it covers us in their insurance! Sleap airfield is a friendly aerodrome and have rules to follow

Its not like i turned up being funny. I asked in the control reception cabin and was refused. I wasnt wanting to be let on the field without an escort as i understand they have insurance etc but its like there not trying to get people involved which isnt going to help get new potential spotters or people through there restaurant door or to the aero club for that matter. Im an aviation enthusiast and take pride in seeing and taking pics of old and new airframes. Theres afew that spoil it for the good ones but dont see why we most of us are shunned from some airfields not others. Im closing id not recommend it for spotters unless you know some people that go there to fly etc

The majority of the time we stay public side of the red fence, slowly and surely we do get airside with an escort!
