Latest withdrawal, G-BNLM Boeing 747-436 withdrawn to Cardiff-Rhoose 27th November 2013. According to 'BA Source' the aircraft will have its interior stripped and have its landing gear swapped out with a more worn set before positioning onwards to Victorville.

is there any news about 'BNLL which damaged it's wing in south africa - will that be repaired or retired early and another aircraft given a reprieve to replace it?

Yep, the last two 747s to go have been sent through Rhoose... Here they are tucked out of the way looking somewhat forlorn;

BNLM undergoing some form of engine test;

And BNLR having presumably some sort of cabin work done. Would they keep the seats?

It's good to keep a record of this sort of thing. One day we'll look back and remember the jumbo every bit as forlornly as Concorde as 787s and A350s (both ugly buggers) are flitting round our skies!

Re: BNLL

I read on a BA web site that BNLL - (the 747 that clipped the building during taxi in South Africa) was to be scrapped due to wing spar damage.

Nice and very informative post.

Do you know the disposition of 767 G-BNWV? I flew on her from Calgary, Canada to Heathrow back in 2012.

G-BNLE that was to be withdrawn in Febuary is still flying as of today 13th March
Currently flying BA196 Houston to Heathrow

Maybe a case of keeping her as G-BNLL is a write off
