very nice,but if he landed with the brakes on the pilot would be looking for a new job,thats for sure!!........ .

I always thought when there was a bit of smoke about, :???: the brakes were being applied.
But we live and learn every day.. :) ..

nope when an aircraft tyre touches the tarmac at 200mph it burns off some rubber,ive replaced an aircraft wheel after a "brakes on" landing,it looks like the wheel has been cut in half,it just grinds it away. http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=brakes ... B640%3B480

The puff of smoke is because the wheels aren't rotating at touchdown, they have to instantaneously accelerate from 0 mph to 140(ish) mph in a millisecond. The harder the touchdown then the more smoke is generated due to a larger surface area of rubber hitting the tarmac.

Anyway, that's just my theory, it seems logical to my geriatric braincell. :lol:

No, you didn't say that - you said an aircraft had touched down at 200 mph with it's brakes on and you had to change the wheels.
