Heathrow Blue Skies - 27L Departures
Heathrow Blue Skies - 27L Departures
I went back to Staines Moor on Tuesday for another try at photographing 27L departures. There seemed to be less steep banking departures to the south but that was more than compensated for by the glorious light and clarity. Here's a selection of the shots I came away with.
Emirates Airbus A380-800
Gulf Air Airbus A330-200 and Thomas Cook Boeing 767-300
British Airways Boeing 777-300 with some vapour coming off the upper wing surfaces
Air Malta Airbus A319-100
Virgin Atlantic Airbus A330-300
British Airways Airbus A319-100 Olympic Dove
Singapore Airlines Airbus A380-800
Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-400, only last week I was photographing three sister aircraft being scrapped at Kemble
Malaysia Airlines Airbus A380-800
KLM / Skyteam Boeing 737-800
and the start of some golden light
Virgin Atlantic Airbus A340-300
Qatar Airways Boeing 777-300
British Airways Boeing 747-400
British Airways Boeing 777-200
I did hang around until the departure of the Air New Zealand 'Hobbit' 777 but the light had totally gone by then, one for another day.
Thanks for looking and lots more at http://www.pbase.com/airpicimages/heathrow_2

Stunning shots, thanks for posting.

Many thanks for the comments guys. They were mainly shot at 420mm (300mm+1.4TC) with a couple at 600mm. You can get away with using a TC this time of year.

Hi Neil,
I remember the first set you posted from this location and it was only a few days before that I was looking for something different than the usual shots at LHR and I considered this location. Then you go and visit it and once again on your return, you provide even more reason to get down there! Brilliant stuff all round.
Sam.

That looks a great place to take some photos. I have just brought my first DSLR and would like to try Staines Moor. Please can you tell me where this is or even Google Earth co ordinates. I will be there between Christmas and New Year. Tim

Brilliant shots and thanks for the co-ordinates. Think I'll give it a go also. Definitely looks like the spot to get a decent shot of the MAS A380 and the detail of its colour scheme towards the rear of the fuselage.
Cheers
Denis.
