Flickr - my latest followers are rather interesting!
I've noticed that in the last week or so I've had 3 new followers and all ladies, one even faved a couple of my pics so I thought I'd re-pay the compliment and fave one of hers so I opened her profile. Whoooo! I got an enormous surprise and am fortunate my wife wasn't looking over my shoulder at the time
Having looked at the other 2 new followers they are all of a similar nature, so my dilemma is do I try to block them (and if so how) or do I just ignore them and hope they go away. Of course I would have to check occasionally to make sure they haven't shared any of my pics.
confused!
anyone else having a similar problem?

Re: Flickr - my latest followers are rather interesting!
Must be your charm, Andy !! You sure you have not posted a picture of yourself ?
My handful of followers all seem to be men (no comments please !) who thankfully also post aircraft pictures.
Maybe it's me, as it reminds me of Amsterdam. Very friendly local ladies, sitting in the window, waving at all the lads going by, then ignoring me !
Re the FlickR question - I wonder whether with a mass migration from Photobucket, it has opened a potential new market for certain people ?
Pete.

I've had a flurry of these recently too. I don't think you can stop them from following you. I suspect that if you do follow them back and engage in conversation, the idea will be to illegally relieve you of money one way or another, so I would strongly advise not doing so.

Re: Flickr - my latest followers are rather interesting!
Pete: I did post a photo of myself recently holding a 12 pound carp that I'd just caught! If there east Europen they probably thought I was offering them dinner
I remember that in Amsterdam too as a naive 16/17 year old cycling through the red light district (who would notice another bike in Holland, that was how we went spotting in those days) and I said to Mike Wooff something along the lines of 'these ladies are all very friendly, waving at us'. It finally dawned on me that they were probably after my money............
which brings me onto Nick's comment, there's no way I would part with money or even engage in conversation with any of these, they would probably spike my e-mail and access an account quicker than I could log on to stop them
there has been a spate of these lately and I wonder if you can stop unwanted followers. Mike's complaining because he hasn't got any
anyway Pete , you say you have nothing but aircraft photos - you posted a nice beaver today
i'll get me coat!

Re: Flickr - my latest followers are rather interesting!
I deleted them in case they were dodgy Mark, best to be safe as i am aware that some of them start faving and leaving nasty links.
As per my pm I can only think it's allowing more on Pro accounts, personally i don't post to hardly any groups on flickr as I fear it could totally open the gates to dodgy followers.
all the best Mark and yes please pass on my wishes to the postman, will catch up sometime

I don't think that's the case. I've added photos to many groups and I rarely get a dodgy follower request.andygolfer wrote:personally i don't post to hardly any groups on flickr as I fear it could totally open the gates to dodgy followers.
If anything, I suspect the dodgy followers choose new potential targets by working through the followers list of people they've successfully managed to follow (if you see what I mean).

Resurrecting an oldish thread here, but in the last few days I've had a spate of this happening...
Totalling about about 20 fav's, all from questionable sources!!

Re: Flickr - my latest followers are rather interesting!
Yup I had about 10 favourites on one of my many poor, hazy record shots that I upload just for the sake of it sometimes, and surprise surprise they were all ladies with 0 posts. Have systematically blocked and reported each one - although I noticed at least three disappeared of their own volition - I think maybe flickr is responding to spam reports by banning these accounts.
