Manchester - A Few From 1985

Post by Andy L » Sat Apr 18, 2020 7:17 pm

Right I've reset the time machine and we're off to 1985 where it all began.
Armed with an Olympus OM10 with 50mm lens, some colour film (which was expensive & as for the processing...)
and a distinct lack of knowing what to do, it was off to Manchester on a few days.
All of these photos are flawed in some way but... well you get the idea.

Thanks to Photoshop for sorting out the major flaws
Hope you like these, I'm off to the pub...oh damn.

Fabulous! I first visited Manchester with a group of school friends one sunny day in about 1977/78. Back then Canadian airlines in the shape of CP Air and Wardair filled international pier C. I can even remember seeing a MU-2 reg VH-MIT which was parked at the end of Pier B. Having experienced the luxury of being able to freely wander up and down the piers back then I couldn't be a spotter these days with all the restrictions in place.

A fantastic set of shots which bring back great memories, is that a Tornado parked in the distance above the JAT 707?

Wow, so much to take in with types and colour schemes. Another post that justifies a time machine.

What a great post.

The Interflug IL62 and JAT B707 must have been real rarities and the BA Tridents, I can smell them now.

The two Bandeirantes bring back memories of past days spotting at Gatwick.

Thanks for posting.

Neil
