Post by AirbusA320 » Sun Aug 11, 2019 6:49 pm

Scanned some pics took during a open day under took at Luton hosted by Britannia Airways, afraid date was unknown if anyone could shed some light there
Britannia opened both of there hangars at Luton and allowed the public access
something not seen in the current days

Boeing 737-2D6 G-BMMZ graced the small hangar which today is home to EasyJet and painted Orange, the 737 was on jacks and undercarriage testing was carried out

a fascinating insight Mark and something that rarely happens these days. Thanks for posting them Mark.

Re the date G-BTEJ was delivered to Luton on 24-05-1991 (leased from Icelandair) and operated it's last Britannia flight on 08-05-1993 to Manchester from where it was ferried to Southend the next day for re-painting into Icelandair colours so that narrows it down to a two year window.

B.767 G-BMMZ was delivered to Britannia Airways on 27-03-1986 and Went to European Air Service on 18-09-1992 so that narrows it to May 1991 to September 1992

Delving further I've found a pic of the same 737 on Flickr at an open day on 4th May 1992 so I reckon that's your date Mark

Yes there was long queue to see inside the 757 and exit via door or slide
No I didn't give it a go
Managed to date the pics as found another person who was there
Great day had by all
Mark
