A few Tristars for Southside
Re: A few Tristars for Southside
Wonderful stuff Paul, I really wish that I'd taken more shots in those days.

Re: A few Tristars for Southside
I love TriStars, so great to see these. I didn't get an SLR until 1988 so didn't manage to photograph too many myself.
Re: A few Tristars for Southside
Fabulous! I'd forgotten how fantastic the Gulf Air scheme was. Back then you took seeing them for granted. I know time moves on but you really couldn't beat Heathrow back in the 70s and 80s when you consider all the different aircraft types that visited and all the places you could legitimately go to view them. 3 of us even slept there for a few days once in the terminal so we could spot! By the end of the third day I was that tired I couldn't even be bothered going to see a JAL DC8F that had just landed

Re: A few Tristars for Southside
a lovely set of pics of a beautiful aircraft. There was something about the lines of a Tristar that made it look very special - having said that most Lockheed airliners looked very nice..
thanks for posting them Paul , brought back some very nice memories

Re: A few Tristars for Southside
Thanks guys
I have to admit the Tristar is one of my favs too , lovely curves to it , unlike the DC-10 ...which I also like a lot
Sleeping in the terminals was OK ...but kept getting woken up by the "brown army" Only lived a 20 min bike ride away and then from 1973 worked there ...must admit after a while it got a bit "too much" and I gave up number crunching civil but still had/have an interest in it all
Thanks for looking and commenting , much appreciated
More to come
