Yes Keith , that's the Conroy conversion. Only this one was ever built. It used to be regular at Stansted operating for Transmeridian Air Cargo. The last time I saw it was at Southend around 1998 when it was in Azerbaijan air Cargo colours. I knew it was at Bournemouth a few years ago but didn't know it was still there - nice see it still survives even though it's paint scheme has gone.

thanks for posting the pics, great to see it again
Andy

EDIT: here's a pic that I took of it (on slide film) of it at Stansted in the early 1970s:

Yes Andy it was whilst I was reading one of you earlier posts on here, where there were questions as whether or not it existed, that I realised I had seen it fairly recently ..... if I look closely into my photos I can see, the remains of, Azerbaijan titles ??

I remember seeing this at Stansted more recently than Andy's lovely photo - when it was operated by Heavylift in the late 80s/early 90s. A couple of years ago a lot of work was done on this aircraft with a view to it flying again, but then it stopped - I think excessive corrosion was found and work stopped or something similar? I doubt it will ever fly again, but it would be great wouldn't it?

My shot of the Guppy when it visited Southend in the summer of 1998 at the end of its time as 4K-GUP with Azerbaijan Airlines. Lettering even more pronounced at that time and a mix of Azerbaijan Airlines and Buffalo Airways!

A couple of scans from me.
N447T Transmeridian went to British Cargo AL. I do not know if it appeared with those colours.
It then became EI-BND with Heavylift Cargo, followed by Buffalo Airways.
Moving on, it became 4K-GUP with Azerbaijan, then passed to First International AL as 9G-LCA.
I believe it had engine tests back in 2013.
Would love to see it preserved somewhere.
Pete

Hi guys..

Fantastic shots there of what is a classic...
a couple of scanned prints of when the beast was in my local (Teesside Airport) when there was a dock strike on in 1984... it then visited again back in early 2000 and was parked up for several weeks before heading down to Bournemouth..
