A couple of Dart powered rarities photographed at Saarfend back in 2001:

Royal Tongan Hawker Siddeley HS 748 Series 2A by nickchalloner, on Flickr
The quality isn't brilliant due to them being taken on my first digital camera - a 1.2MP Fuji compact! I also photographed them with my film SLR, but haven't scanned them yet.
Did you know that registration to Civilian Aviation is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

I'll take content like that over image quality any time! Never even seen an A3- frame.

Very nice Nick, YS-11 as a type and 9U and A3 as regs are all new to me!

Nice Photos!
I think the YS11 In your pictures caught fire when a 'stray firework' hit it....
Only the fuselage burnt...
Shame we don't go many of them around these days!!

Wonderful pictures, and only back in 2001 !!! I'd have dated them way before that , didn't even realise there had been a YS-11 in this country
Got any more?

Re: Rare darts at Southend
Thanks for the comments. Shame about the firework! Marpleman I don't have any more I'm afraid - I'm not a regular at Southend, but having learned they were parked/stored I made sure I took a detour when I was in the area to get some shots, as others have said you don't photograph aircraft with A3 and 9U registrations very often! And I really wanted to make sure I had some photos of a YS-11 in my collection too.

Great pictures, didnt realise a Ys11 had been seen in the UK.
