Two Aircraft ... One Day ... Duxford !

Both of these aircraft, the Douglas DC-4 (C-54) and Lockheed Constellation, were a huge part of my early days at Stansted with Skyways and Aviation Traders .... So the opportunity to see one of each, in flying condition, in 1999 (I think) couldn't be missed ! They were on a tour celebrating 50 years since the Berlin Airlift.
These photos are scans of prints taken with a cheap 'point and shoot' roll film camera .... therefore a lot better than I can manage today :D
Although both aircraft are in somewhat military colour schemes they were both on the US civil register !

Keith ;)

sorry Keith , I must have missed these. A nice set and some nice memories. Love the Connie in paticular.

I'm trying to work out what that is under the port outer engine in the last pic (not the Cessna).

It certainly is ! It's one of the Spanish built CASAs that were used in the "Battle of Britain" film.

Wonderful shots, I missed them too when they were posted. :)

I also missed these - and in 1999
Fabulous nostalgia. I love old prop liners especially Constellations. Thanks Keith.

Thanks Nighthawke .... ! But apparently it was 1998 oooopps should have updated the initial post !! The Berlin airlift started in 1948, the year of my birth, and carried on into 1949 !
