A couple from far Cathay

Post by waghorn41 » Thu Feb 26, 2015 7:08 pm

Still sorting through piles of negatives and found these. Cathay Pacific 707 and Convair 880 by the blast fence outside the HAECo hangars. CP only had a couple of the Convairs left when I was there, New 747s and Tristars were coming on stream.
Second picture is BOAC/British Airways 747 during the livery transition.

I know I took a photo or two of the CV880 and think this is one of them. Note different engines and the nose down attitude of the nearest aircraft. Think the tail is thinner too. I may be wrong and it was a long time ago.

The thinner tails is the aircraft turned slightly more away. Both have the 707 type fin tip LE aeriel.

Doesn't look like Convair engines

I'd put money on them both being 707's

the engines on the '880 were completely streamlined with no noticable extruding cowling.

Have to agree that these are both 70's

Brilliant pictures though waghorn!!
