Thanks for posting them, that's a horribly sad sight - as are your shots of the Shackleton on FC.

You're giving your age away Andy !!

Great post!

I somehow managed to miss this when on holiday back in the 80's - oh well, never mind

Hi guys , found via FC as well . Thanks for bringing up old , V old memories .We'd borrowed sister ship 5B-DAC , as our T2 G-AVFN needed an engine change ; and for the last 3 days of March 1974 bashed the circuit at Nicosia , and finished off with an ILS into Akrotiri and a low level fast transit over the sea . All to complete our Trident 1/2 conversion course.

Copied over from FC ......

Re the Tridents .. We brought 2 of them back to the UK ; those repairable in situ and without too many bullet holes. Refurbed and joined the Trident 1/2 fleet . A T1E G-ASWU , known as ''Mr Wu'' , very nice to fly as had cranked throttles which you could actually reach and adjust whilst flying . Plus a standard T2E G-AVFB which was it's original reg B4 being sold off / leased to Cyprus . It's the one at Duxford . Whilst being ultra sound tested for damage and bullet holes , a bird's nest with eggs was found in the fin . Rumour had it that a manager had flown her back and did his usual ''thump'' thus breaking the eggs ; if he'd given the landing to the co- , the eggs might have hatched !

rgds condor .
