My first trip from Leeds down to Heathrow with a decent camera on 16 July 1984. A few snaps from the day scanned from slides.

Interesting selection of airliners seen and who would have thought that since then the likes of Pan Am, Swissair and SABENA would have disappeared.

Thank's for the post, cracking shots all, memories from a time long

Heathrow looked so "uncluttered" then, or is it just me & those rose tinted specs ;)

Best Regards

Geoff

No Geoff, you are quite correct in how uncluttered it was then. They obviously didn't then feel the need to fill every space available. You can actually see some rolling hills in the far background of some shots.

Steve

NB - I won't post any more on here but have uploaded a few more to my Flickr pages which you can link through to via any of the pix above.

Fantastic Steve! Those were happy days, I remember my first trip there in April 1980 aged 12.

I fondly recall seeing Olympic and Iberia 747s parked up on stand at the West end of T2 from the Queen's Building back in the day. Not sure if we have any pics left anywhere but if we do, i'll get them scanned in!

so many memories there! I spent many a day on the T3 car park roof in the mid/late 1980's and remember seeing T4 being built which totally changed the landscape on the south side which had been quite rural until then, with the Hunting hangar being the major building for many years.

I'm scanning old slides at the moment and will have to see what LHR ones I can post, my slides are mainly from the 1970s, I changed to film and prints by 1980
