I thought it might be of interest to document the entire collection of airframes currently on view at the Old Liverpool (Speke) Airport. Most of the airframes are in the care of the SAHG (Speke Aviation Heritage Group). These photos were taken during a number of visits over the past four years.

Ex-Invicta Airways Bristol Britannia 308F G-ANCF. ex Kemble, Banwell, Brooklands, Manston. Currently a (very slow) on-going project by the BAPT (Britannia Aircraft Preservation Trust) to fully restore Charlie Fox in the colours of former operator British Eagle who used to maintain their Britannia fleet here.

Jetstream 4100 G-JMAC. ex Woodford, Prestwick. Now converted to a fully-functional flight simulator.
Image

ex Emerald Airways HS748-2A/334 G-ORAL 'The Paper Plane' nose. ex Hooton Park, Blackpool.
Image

Percival Prince 6E G-AMLZ. ex Haverigg, Caernarfon, Coventry.

Image

ex Emerald Airways HS748-1/105 G-BEJD 'Sisyphus'. ex Blackpool.
Image

Grumman AA-1 Yankee G-SEXY (ex G-AYLM). Damaged, 'stored' behind containers.
Image

Gloster Meteor F8 WH291. 79 Sqdn colours, dismantled. ex Wycombe Air Park, Lasham, Kemble.
I've included it here as it is part of the airframe collection.

And finally.... DH.89 Dragon Rapide FSM G-AJCL. On display as the 'gate guard' in front of the old Terminal building, now the Crown Plaza Hotel. Still decorated with fairy lights which used to be switched on in the evening over the Christmas period!

Thanks for looking. :thumb:

Cheers for posting these :) I went here last year to get some pics. I went back the other week and the gate was locked and the carpark had no cars in it =/

Thanks Woodford. :thumb: Surprised to hear that you couldn't get access, I was there last Friday (12th) to photograph the Meteor nose and fuselage and got in no problem. Seems like they're using the apron as a main car park these days!

The gate shouldn't be locked.....

If anyone fancies visiting the collection feel free to PM me and I might be able to open up some of the aircraft for you. Alternatively there will always be people working on the aircraft most Saturday's, so pop down then :)

Forgot to add to the above:

The hotel introduced a new ANPR parking system a few weeks ago. They've been having some teething problems with it, but it's now fully operational. The first half hour is free, but if you stay longer you need to go into the reception and be validated to avoid a fine. If visiting us on a saturday there shouldn't be a charge if you mention what you're there for as they are used to us being there all day.
