I was lucky enough to be taken on a behind the scenes tour of Manchester Airport on 9th May 1981.
The shots were taken on a fairly basic SLR and scanned about 10-12 years ago from 20 year old slides, so the quality is not what it could be. The 'typical' Manchester weather didn't help (as you will see). Here are a few of the more interesting types.
B.707 G-BFBS - withdrawn from use
Cypriot Air B.707-120 5B-DAP
Warair Canada DC-10-30 C-GXRB on take-off
Aviaco DC-8-63 EC-BMY on take-off
Tu-134 of Aviogenex
Convair 540 LN-BWG Nor-Fly Charter[/url]
B.727 G-BAJW of Dan-Air
There's a few more on my flickr site - see: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nog59/sets ... 070338210/
but if anyone is interested I'll post some more on here.
