To co-incide with the Southend Sea Front Airshow, the airport held an open day including an open top bus tour of the ramps.
Beech 90 'OY-JRO' Danish Air Transport. This and sister ship Beech 200 'OY-JRN' behind were operated in support of Ford Motors
Boeing 707-351B 'P4-FDH' Omega Air. Southend was something of a Boeing 707 mecca at the time, with no less than eight in storage on the airfield.
Belfast 'G-BEPS' Heavylift. Had just been withdrawn from use and would be stored on the airfield for another seven years prior to being scrapped.
BAe ATP 'G-OBWR' British World Airways.
BAC1-11 518FG 'G-OBWA' British World Airways. One of number of ex Dan-Air machines operated by BWA.
BAC1-11 531FS 'G-OBWE' British World Airways. Unlike sister ship WA, WE never carried the BWA colour scheme as it was used predominantly for leasing to other airlines.
BAC1-11 401AK '5N-HHH'. Former Kabo Air machine, which would eventually become the fake 'G-FIRE' with the airport's fire service.
NAMC YS-11A '9U-BHP' Trygon Aviation. Still carrying the colours of previous operator Air Caribbean, the aircraft was destroyed by fire 6 months later.
Embraer 110 Bandeirante 'G-LOOT'. In use as a spares source.
