Luton Airport - my early years

Here are some pictures taken through the 70’s, 80’s and early 90’s.
Normally, for Luton nowdays, we tend to see mainly Bizjets. A visit today might log you 30 – 40.
But in the early days, you would only see a handful if that.
Here are a few of the non biz that I look back on with interest. Bound to spark some memories with some.

Splendiferous!
A real treat viewing all those gems ... I saw most o the BAC 1-11's as they rolled off the production line at Hurn in the 60's and 70's and the CL-44 and 'Whispering Giants' were two of my favourite props ... a fabulous IL-18 with the front of a wonderful Viscount ... and to end it with a jetstar!

My first ever logging visit was to Heathrow, Queens Roof Gardens on 17th August 1971.
I had probably seen many rare aircraft over house going into there as a small child.
I have a vague memory, not verified, of seeing an aircraft sign writing over London.
Could that have happened?
