Ok I may be a bit obsessed but I've just been getting very lucky 'hand held' over the last few phases

Sorry for the tardy reply Kenny I've been away .
IMMSC, I had it on a shutter speed of around 1-320ths sec for the first quarter moon shots and around 800 for the fuller ones. You have to remember that the moon is very bright when it's full so you can shoot at a lot higher shutter speeds.
