Pennine Blackpool Express 13/4/2019

Post by EGNH1909 » Sun Apr 14, 2019 5:29 pm

This was a railtour on 13th April from London Euston to Blackpool, over the newly electrified section between Preston and Blackpool, followed by a trip over part of the Settle Carlisle line, and back via Oxenholme and Preston to London.
These pics are taken at Kirkham station, on the Blackpool-Preston line.

Heritage traction front and back!! Class 86 86259 on the front brought the train from London and Jubilee class 45690 Leander was put on the back at Preston.

Thought they might be worth a quick look, as I know there are some train buffs on the site!
Any c & c's welcome

A great selection of pictures, it doesn't seem that long ago that 86s were regular on passenger duties on the WCML.

Cheers Martin-yes I remember trips to London behind 86s from Preston in the 70s and 80s-its hard to believe they're over 50 years old- also still like to see them doubling up on Freightliner traffic through Preston.
Best Wishes
Pete
