Nov 2011 Spec Comp: Historic Cargo/Airlines

Post by StuBie » Sun Nov 06, 2011 9:31 am

Novembers theme is going to leave the specific aircraft types and get you looking in your archives. The subject matter for this month will be Historic Airlines and Cargo operators.

Please post all entries in this thread.

Photography Competition Rules

1. Only one entry per user, unless posting on behalf of another person who is unable to do so themselves (children for example). If this is the case, please state so on your entry.
2. The photo can be from any time as long as it follows the theme.
3. The photo must follow the theme of the months competition, this month it is defunct airlines/cargo operators pre-2011.
4. The image can be photo-shopped to some extent, levels changes, cropping, sharpening etc are all acceptable. The photograph must retain it’s initial subject though, don’t make it something it’s not, (cutting and pasting the moon into the shot, for example). HDR images are not acceptable. If you are unsure, please PM a moderator.
5. The competition will remain open until 23.59 on the 30th November 2011.
6. The email voting system votes will be open from 00:01 on November 1st for 96 hours, however you cannot vote for your own photo !
7. All images must be posted in line with the usual CA posting rules, size etc, read them if you're not sure how to post etc.
8. The rules may be subject to change, and these will be posted on this thread.
9.Please also embed the images and not post a link to an image as it makes it harder to judge, if you're not sure how to do it, shout up and someone will sort it out.
10.Do not comment on other member's photos.

Prizes –
First Prize :-
Posting in the CA hall of fame.

Second Prize
Posting in the CA hall of fame.

Third Prize
Posting in the CA hall of fame.

Sponsors always wanted for forthcoming competition prizes. Good luck!!

I'll kick this off and hope it meets the criteria.

Highland Express Boeing 747-123 G-HIHO at Prestwick 10th August 1987. I think they managed less than six months of service before the aircraft was repossessed by the lessor.

DC10-10 G-AZZD captured at Ringway, many years before T2 would eventually be built on the land in the background.

Evening
Just to blow the whole spirit of the competition & to come up with something a little out of the ordinary
Taken at Luton, early 70's, I have no idea by whom or with what camera (apart from the chain link fence 'filter'),
But it will raise a smile (I was out of the country at the time, so you can't blame me :-))

Have fun

I'm in with an MK Airlines 747, although there are some excellent "oldies" this month!

AVENSA 737-229 at Miami in 1995, ex. OO-SDC of Sabena and first flew in 1974.

Trust me to go all that way to see a scabby old Sabena 737.

My first entry into photo competitions on here..
Taken at Milan Malpensa in October 2007, Alitalia Cargo ceased operations a year later and the aircraft now operates for Cargoitalia.

Cheers, Ashley

photo changed at Mike's request, one of British Air Ferries' last surviving carvairs (G-AOFW) may even have been the very last at Southend in the early '80s

I think this is the only shot I've got that fits the criteria. Taken at Southend Airshow 2007 with no lesser camera than a Concord eye-Q 4363Z (we've all heard of that haven't we!?), a compact purchased the day before, from Woolworths who have coincidentally gone the same way as all the airlines in this thread!
