SPOTM May 2021 GROUNDED - a bit of fun!!! (poll)

Post by andygolfer » Tue Jun 15, 2021 9:20 am

The voting is complete for the winning entries in this comp but for a bit of fun here's an extra poll for you to participate in.

The subject was GROUNDED and I think it's fair to say that some were more grounded than others so I had an e-chat with the admins and we thought we would have an extra poll for you to nominate the 2 subjects which had the least chance of flying again (under their own power, not in the hold of an aircraft!) AT THE TIME THE PHOTO WAS TAKEN

Here's a link to the photos for you: viewtopic.php?f=110&t=39424

I'll leave it open until the end of June and also with the option to change your vote if you wish (not normally possible in our comp votes) and you may make comments as well if you wish such as which entry you would most like to see flying again.

ENJOY!

I always think it was such a shame that Carvair G-AOFW wasn't preserved at Southend as it was such a significant aircraft at that location both in being built there and operating from there for many years - I flew on one once to Rotterdam and back for a cycling / spotting holiday round Holland - it was quite amusing watching the ground crew pedalling our bikes out to the aircraft and taking them up on the lift!

As for the Air France 747 , that damage really illustrates the strength of that aircraft!

As as for Uuoret's three cockpits- do any of them still exist? I'd be interested to know

I think the three cockpits are at SWAM in St Athan.

On my early visits to Heathrow, a trip to the roof of car park 3 would give a view towards the old fuel farm. There in older colours was that wonderful Comet.

The Belgian Xingu reminded me of when it was one of five Sabena trainers. Occasional visits to Gatwick were made.
That in turn reminds me , that before that, there were Cessna 310's to Gatwick in a modified Sabena scheme.

Pete.
