Civilian Aviation

We admins have been discussing the 2021 topics for a while and this is what we have come up with, I hope you like the calendar - should be plenty for everybody there.

If the lockdowns persists and means topics such as the airshow one aren't feasible we will have a re-think close to the time of the relevant topic

January - ANY aircraft photographed in 2020 which has not won or been 2nd or 3rd in either photo comp, i.e. not already in the hall of fame. ( this was very popular and easy in 2020 but for Jan 2021 we have made it any aircraft rather than airliner to help offset the lockdown effects)

February - Iberian countries i.e. Portugese or Spanish registered aircraft past and present

March - any civilian registered Boeing 767, it first flew in 1981 so let's celebrate 40 years of this workhorse of the world fleets

April - Civil registered corporate or government airliners

May - 'grounded - unlikely to ever fly again' - you can hardly ever say never unless it's a skip full of metal

June - Any Canadian registered aircraft

July - former soviet bloc aircraft which are based on a soviet bloc era design - let's see some old classics from the east!

August – Any UK registered helicopter, autogyro or other rotary winged type

September: Bae.146, another one that is 40 years old in 2021 - first flight was ‎3rd September 1981

October: an aircraft displaying at a 2021 airshow - SUBJECT CHANGED to 'O' is for October, any aircraft with a registration starting with the letter O

November - An aircraft on a grass aerodrome

December - an all encompassing biz jet topic – 'any biz jet photographed in 2021' - that’s an easy one for biz jet fans

Nice selection, pity I haven't been out and active for years so will probably only manage 6 or 7 entries at best. Shame about December being 2021 photos of biz jets only as mine all date from the 1970s

With regards to January's comp, does the photograph have to have been entered in the 2020 comps or can it be a "first-timer" entry, if that makes sense?

no Ian, it can be any 2020 photo as long as it hasn't been placed in either photo competition

Another 12 months of photo-fun ! Thank you !!

due to the lack of airshows this year we have decided that the October subject of 'an aircraft displaying at at 2021 airshow' is likely to attract very few entries and therefore we are going to change the subject for this competition. After some discussions we have come up with 'O for October' so any civilian registered aircraft with a registration beginning with the letter O, that should give a wide scope for you such as ( but not exclusively) OB- OD- OE- OH- OK- OM- OY- and just for Wallie OO-

we do not want any 'O's of this kind though please :
