This is the SPOTM (Special Photo Of The Month) competition for October 2017 and the subject is ‘Hot air balloons or other lighter than air craft’

The subject of your entry should be a photo of one or more civil registered hot air balloons or other forms of lighter than air craft’ . The aircraft subject(s) must be registered as a civilian operated aircraft (or retired as such) when the photograph was taken.
That should be another very broad subject so hopefully we will get lots of entries.

Photography Competition Rules :-

1. Only one entry per user, unless posting on behalf of another person who is unable to do so themselves (children for example). If this is the case, please state so on your entry..

2. The photo may have been taken on any date, it does not have to be taken in the month of the competition

3. The image can be photo-shopped to some extent, levels changes, cropping, sharpening etc. are all acceptable. The photograph must retain it’s initial subject though, don’t make it something it’s not. HDR images are not acceptable. If you are unsure, please PM a moderator.

4. The competition will remain open until 23.59 (UK time) on the 1st November 2017, to enable anyone with a last minute entry some breathing space.

5. Voting will be conducted by a poll open to all the membership shortly after the closure of the competition.

6. 'Rule 6...' There's no rule 6 Bruce'

7. The decision of the moderating team is final.

8. All images must be posted in line with the usual CA posting rules (size etc.), please read them if you're not sure how to post.

9. The rules may be subject to change, and these will be posted on this thread.

10. Please also embed the images and not links to images, if you're not sure how to do it then shout up and someone will sort it out. It is permissible to change your entry before the closing date.

11. Do not comment on other member's photos.

12. A brief description of where and when the image was taken would be nice too.

If you have any questions please PM me

Good luck everyone.
Andrew

Got hundreds of normal shots but think I will go with this one as we flew out of Old Buckenham in a 4th balloon that morning

N3A Goodyear GZ-20A Blimp, Michigan Intl Speedway, NASCAR Carfax 400 raceday 15 August 2010.

Did I forget to mention the photobomb. 80-0264 A-10C MI ANG. Three Michigan National Guard A-10's were to fly the National Anthem flypast. They arrived 20 mins early and did circuits of the speedway track in trail formation. They flew inside and below the orbit of the blimp, before they departed to form up for the flypast.

voting in this competition has now completed (actually yesterday evening but I haven't been on line as I was in Bath and drove back today) andthe results are as follows:

1st andygolfer (me!) with 'Hot air to hot air - G-LLGE about to lift off'

and we had 3 in equal 2nd place:

Bizfreeq with 'Anyone for a Game of Catch'
Cessna954 with 'Longleat Balloon Safari 16th Sept '17'
and Gloria Finis with 'Tranquillity on motion, on an autumn evening'

well done to all three of them (and a celebratory whisky for me later!) and thanks to everybody who entered and/or voted

The winning entries are now posted in in the Hall of Fame here: http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... 12&t=29373
