SPOTM July 2017, Aircraft named after 4 legged animals
This is the SPOTM (Special Photo Of The Month) competition for August 2017 and the subject is '4 legged animals' - aircraft named after animals
The subject of your entry should be a photo of one or more civil registered aircraft with an animal in the aircraft name (not the airline name-i''ll save that for another time), it must be a 4 legged animal so no birds, insects or fish please and no nicknames such as Jumbos or NATO reporting names (sorry that's just ruined a few plans I guess). The aircraft subject(s) must be registered as a civilian operated aircraft (or retired as such) when the photograph was taken.
Originally the subject was posted as aircraft named after dogs but the moderating team decided that was to restrictive hence the revised subject-That's now another broad subject so hopefully we will get lots of entries.
Photography Competition Rules :-
1. Only one entry per user, unless posting on behalf of another person who is unable to do so themselves (children for example). If this is the case, please state so on your entry..
2. The photo may have been taken on any date, it does not have to be taken in the month of the competition
3. The image can be photo-shopped to some extent, levels changes, cropping, sharpening etc. are all acceptable. The photograph must retain it’s initial subject though, don’t make it something it’s not. HDR images are not acceptable. If you are unsure, please PM a moderator.
4. The competition will remain open until 23.59 (UK time) on the 1st September 2017, to enable anyone with a last minute entry some breathing space.
5. Voting will be conducted by a poll open to all the membership shortly after the closure of the competition.
6. 'Rule 6...' There's no rule 6 Bruce'
7. The decision of the moderating team is final.
8. All images must be posted in line with the usual CA posting rules (size etc.), please read them if you're not sure how to post.
9. The rules may be subject to change, and these will be posted on this thread.
10. Please also embed the images and not links to images, if you're not sure how to do it then shout up and someone will sort it out. It is permissible to change your entry before the closing date.
11. Do not comment on other member's photos.
12. A brief description of where and when the image was taken would be nice too.
If you have any questions please PM me
Good luck everyone.
Andrew

Re: SPOTM July 2017, Aircraft named after 4 legged animals
Just to kick things off, a common type in a more exotic location. F-GGKA DHC-6 Twin Otter of Air Caraibes. Seen at Union Island Airport, St.Vincent and The Grenadines on 23 May 1993. Having flown down from St.Lucia to spend a day sailing in the Grenadine islands this aircraft was one of a number seen at the airport prior to our return flight.

Here's mine for now, haven't really had time to search much so may find something else before the deadline. A Beagle Pup, G-AXNS taking off at Old Warden on 7th July this year leaving a dust cloud in it's wake!

I'll go with this Gazelle at Middle Wallop back in April. It even has a picture on the side to prove conformity with the rules

the entries for this competition are now closed and we have 16 excellent photos to choose from. The slightly unusual topic produced some excellent photos and demonstrated a good deal of creativity.
You can now vote here: http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum ... 10&t=28884
Thank you to everybody who entered.
