Re: Can anyone ID this bird?

It's a hawk not an Osprey or a buzzard. It's hard to tell from the picture but my guess would be it's a Harris Hawk. These are two shots of a Harris that I've taken over the years. https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6112/7004580887_710bec1b0b_b.jpg https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7279/7004581487_b47d8185...

Shots From Northern Alberta ( big post )

I apologize for my absence from this forum but because I've been in a very remote part of Northern Alberta, Canada the opportunities for aviation photography is almost nonexistent. It has presented me with some other very nice subjects and I would appreciate the chance to share some of them with you...

That's a 580...Allison turbo prop modification of the 440.
I suppose Conair should be updating their info with Transport Canada then.

Re: From Days Gone By

Love the Convair shot too  ...which looks to me like a 580? I research reg numbers at Transport Canada's site and according to them it's a 440. Here's a link to confirm it. Just punch in the reg # in the box called " Mark " and it will show up. I can't link to the actual page. For some reas...

It's not a term I was familiar with in my part of Canada. I've always heard it referred to as
civil aviation.

A Few Of My Favorites

Here's a few aircraft that I really enjoyed watching for one reason or the other. Wherever possible I always try and get them in-flight because that's where they belong. 1982 Quickie Q2 - Because it looks so clean. Even while parked on the tarmac it looks like it's going fast. Unfortunately I wasn't...

Good job in lousy lighting conditions.

I remember seeing them fly when I was a kid so your shots bring back some fond memories of
hanging out at the airport with my dad.

Thanks for posting them.

GA & Gliders

A question about the " Only GA & Gliders in here please" section.

I know what gliders are but I'm at a loss as to what is meant by the " GA". I've been
trying hard to figure it out and I feel silly for asking but it's driving me nuts.

Mike I saw that before and tried it and it wasn't what I was after. I don't think there is a way to do what I was hoping it could. It's no big deal. I'll get used to things the more I use it. I like this site as well as it's brother and I hope to use them a lot. Problem is when I'm in camp for two w...

Very nice. Have gone off fast pointy jets and now concentrating on the Oldies at the likes of Shuttleworth , Breighton and Woburn. More style and class. Thanks for posting. I'm glad you liked them. As far as fast pointy jets are concerned they spin my crank just as well. There's a time ad place for...

Water Bombers

I'm posting these in this section because for the most part they qualify as " Nostalga " type aircraft imo. It's not very often I get to see beauties like Lockheed 188A Electras, DC-6's & Convairs fly anymore. If they are in the wrong section please feel free to move them. These aircraft were photog...

It's a good thing there's still a bunch of Convairs flying and as far as having one in my backyard I think
it would be great to turn something like that into a home.
