Compton Abbas Vintage Fly In 05/06/2021
Having gone to Salisbury for my first COVID-19 jab, as I was down that way I went across to Compton Abbas for the monthly Vintage fly in seeing as it was a nice day. As my appointment was at 13:20, I got to Compton at about 14:15, so only saw the last half until 17:00, and was a busy 3 hours and the...

A Jordanian A310F and an Algerie L-100, You are joking!?!?
Blinking heck! I've never seen the A310 there since probably 6 years+ ago, and never seen the L-100 there, as wasn't doing aviation in the 90's when they did Heathrow, jealous, and what a beautiful mix of pictures, love the specials too

Telephoto lens for Nikon D5500
Hello all, Has anyone got a telephoto lens and have any recommendations for a telephoto lens? Not having one before, with a high price I need to know what I need really! I'd like a lens that would do for overheads (ones on contrails but ideally stuff on Heathrow approach, which from where I am is at...

Artwork Specials at Truckfest South West
Hello all, Not a truck spotter myself, as in I don't jot numbers, but I have an interest in trucks (especially the sound of a Scania V8 :Wow:) and going to Truckfest gives a chance to see some special schemes as well. Truckfest South West was on at Shepton Mallet this year, and turning up early on a...

Boeing Stearman Wing Walker - Compton Abbas 09-08-2020
Hello all, Went to Compton Abbas Airfield for the first time this year and seeing as it was a nice day and not too far away it was a good excuse to cop some more GA aircraft and dust off the camera. I ended up with way too many pictures especially of The Wing Walker Company based 1940's Boeing Stear...

Re: Big Jet TV - good or bad?
Most people would say turn the sound off, but that doesn't help as I like to hear planes taking off or landing, especially when a RB211 is involved. He get's civil aircraft wrong, I know for beginners you have to start somewhere, but didn't take me long to work out ID features. I'm not on about the ...

Re: Big Jet TV - good or bad?
I did have a subscription at first but didn't last long, too annoying, keeps shouting 'Yeeeaahhhh' over anything passing by or spooling up, yes I say that myself sometimes but only in my head!! Theres an interesting clip on his site or his FB where is having a rant with a Dutch spotter at Schipol, h...

viewing locations
Hello all, Is it still possible to access the area past the security gates for a few minutes for number logging? Also I notice there is a fence round the B3073 assuming this is where most the BA stuff is parked and viewable. There seems to be a pavement, but can't see anywhere to park the car, is th...

Good mix and very good panorama shot of the heavies
Interesting that the Aigle Azur A320 is moved out the scrap line to where 4L-TGN used to be, probably getting clogged up so having to move things around out the way!

Re: B'mouth, Kemble & Cardiff
Stunning shots! Absolute brilliant 747 shots, shame it's looking rough but the One World 747 is well captured with that well worn and weathered look. Can you get round most of Bournemouth in a car? Last time I was there was a good 6+ years ago and only once, seem to recall turning up to some gatehou...

Interesting! Indigo logos taken off at Baku I take it.
Apparently there seems to be some blog or site that lists arrival times, anyone heard of this? I can't find one

Love all the FexEx MD11 shots, captured very well, also like the Swift Air Embraer with all the engine heat haze, well captured that

Re: June 2020 photo of the month competition
My entry seeing as it's the only place I've been to this month is B747 F-GTUI arriving at Kemble for the last time, bringing a close to the Corsair B747 chapter. Re: FedEx MD-11
To be fair that is still excellent shots!
I do like the second one, but even the first one is very good, not sure everyone likes close angles but if they are sharp like that then I like them, a bit different, brings out the detail, even handy reference if you are doing a model kit of one!
