smoking on start
taken from the roof at schiphol on a freezing february day when the minus eight temperatures really showed the smoke on start to its best, only camera to hand was a pocket compact so not the best shot

I also agree that the first panning shot is very nice and works well
the last couple of shots look very cold and wintery well done for braving the weather

Re: Heathrow - the day the Russians came in force 15-7-1991
even with a bit of cropping after scanning you can see that you had good technique, and as you say getting the settings right was an art, could you really rely on the little red needle waving about on the left hand side of the view finder to tell you when you had it right was your camera the Praktic...

Re: Heathrow 28/01/16

Re: Heathrow in the early 1970s - some scanned slides
The QB was still open in 1986 when I made my first visit to LHR. I think by mid-1987 the QB was no longer accessible, but the T2 roof gardens still were. They finally closed in the late 1990s, or perhaps even the very early 2000s - I heard because access was not possible for wheelchair users, altho...

Mike
I think the second Etihad A330 is a much more aesthetically pleasing shot, it is nice to have a clear uncluttered background but it is not always possible

Re: Manchester 23L early morning Departures 28th Jan
andy the whole of the new runway has great vantage points as there is a public footpath that runs the whole length and you also have a river tunnel under the runway which give access to spots between the two runways so good when the are using the 05 runways it is a shame that the new runway is only ...

Re: Manchester 23L early morning Departures 28th Jan
Nope,, the mud is horrendous all along the 23L footpath. Some places it's ankle deep so I didn't bother walking too far as a quick trip down the slope to the fence was always a possibility :-( Mike I will definitely go better prepared next time, when i came off the south side i had a trip to the tr...
