On 11.07.15, Maltatripper reported that airframe as 'EI-IXA'. Think it still bears its Italian regn I-BIXA

Kemble Arrival - BA747 G-BNLZ

Showing up on the airfield webcam parked on D-Site is the very recent arrival from Cardiff of ex- BA 747 G-BNLZ. Notified by our good friends of S.W.A.G. as arriving for scrapping.

Fitting that this British stalwart should end her days in the UK, instead of Victorville.

Re: Visit 27/02/2015

Was there on the same day. G-CELC (it was definitely an ex- Jet-2 c/s) was nose-in, deep in hangar H2 (the one nearest the control tower). Without a nose cone. hangar H1 (the furthest one away) contained the B737 N216AP - positioned tail-in & looking fairly intact - , plus unidentified light singles...

Re: Visit 23-24/07/2014

Aha, sorry for the red herring....that'll be the ex-St. Athan Airbus A321 F-WTDG (if the stripes were what you see in this photo; https://www.flickr.com/photos/15110856@N02/12873692513/ ). That was inside the furthest hangar from the tower last time I saw it. The other striped A320 EI-DEZ did look a...

Re: ex Qantas B747

She arrived on the 09th April. N176SG was until recently parked on the old North Apron, close to the Chevron RJs - as per photo above. About a week ago, it was moved and was visible via the airfield webcam parked up at D-site, with hatches open. It's no longer visible on the webcam and a very recent...

Re: Visit 23-24/07/2014

The last remaining centre sections of ex-Vueling A320 EC-ICS were seen in the scrapping area within the last couple of weeks. The red/blue banded A320(1) sounds like the ex-Meridiana A320 EI-DEZ - it was last seen propped up on railway sleepers, outside the nearest ASI hangar to the tower. The other...

Just got back from holiday - many thanks for the residents' updates MT. I may have missed an event in my absence, but has ex-Vueling A320 EC-ICS flown the nest? The last reports I read was that it was complete and doing engine runs back in mid-Feb (using parts from its three sisterships?). Sounded l...

Using FR24 playback, the only 747 over Bicester at that time was Virgin's G-VBIG, level at FL135 & heading approx east.

Re: Visit 04/02/2014

The last planned road move of A321 F-WTDG was advertised in the local press because of the traffic disruption - subsequently cancelled due to the continued appalling weather. I've not seen any press updates of late and in view of the massive winds forecast over the next few days, think that everythi...

Although the move put on hold (until better wx?), our good friends at SWAG have helped to pin down the A321 as F-WTDG Airbus A321-211 (0674) ex CSA OK-CEC, which arrived at St. Athan 09/04/13 from Prague. Their excellent website has it last noted 31/01/14 in the scrapping area of eCube Solutions. Re...

Re: Kemble 11-11-2013, some sombre sights on a sombre day

Very nice pics Andy. To fill in a couple of details; The DHL cockpit section is that of EI-OZB The tail you see sticking up in front of the full-frame DHL is another shot of the Bany G-ODUB (you nailed it when you moved and took the next frame from another angle). Tail logos are the same. The blue &...
