Andy,
Great catch. Despite the high ISO, they have come out well.

Re: Manchester on 14 December
Thanks Pete. I also wish the runway was open a bit longer in the off season - but the way time flies, it will soon be spring again.

Manchester on 14 December
I managed to injure my foot on my way home from my Birmingham trip in November and have not taken the camera out for a month. So I was pleased to be able to pop up to Manchester Airport on Friday. To say it was cold would be an understatement. There was a fair bit of frost around but as a bonus, the...

Re: Birmingham 12 November
Thanks Jonf45. It was my first trip there and I will go back soon. Conditions were excellent, which helped a lot. The prop blur was down to a shutter speed of 1/60 and a tripod but even then I only got 2 acceptable shots out of about 8 taken.

Birmingham 12 November
Having taken a couple of days away from the daily grind, I went on a quick recce to Birmingham International. I travelled by train from Hartford (Northwich) to Birmingham New Street and then on to Marston Green. Crossing over the platform, I was soon on a tarred foot path into well kept parklands an...

Manchester 23L on Saturday 10 November
We had reasonable temperatures and some sunlight on Saturday, so I was pleased to be out on 23L. As we are out of the summer season, the photographs I took were almost repeats of last weekend but I managed to catch the JetAirways A330 and Ryanair's Boeing livery for the first time. https://farm5.sta...

Re: Manchester 3 November
Thanks Mike. I have found a bit of a hidden gem in a parking spot right near the bottom of 23L (or top of 05R) and have started to go out every Saturday that I can. I have never tried winter photography at the airport so this year could be very interesting.

Re: FlyBe Flight BE3123 Manchester to Paris Aborts
Mike, I do apologise and hang my head in embarrassed shame. I have just checked and my camera says 15:22 but my computer says 14:29 - so I am out by nearly an hour. That would make touchdown at 07:17. I should have been alerted by the fact that I arrived at about 07:00 and hadn't been there that lon...

Manchester 3 November
It was a much warmer day that last Saturday, but still a bit nippy when the wind blew (which it did a lot). Apart from the excitement of FlyBe flight BE3123 at the beginning of the visit, I had a great day and came away with several keepers. The light varied a bit, but the sun put in the odd guest a...

FlyBe Flight BE3123 Manchester to Paris Aborts
Shortly after arriving near the bottom of 23L early yesterday morning, I noticed some activity with a number of fire tenders and support vehicles lit up and getting ready for an arrival of some sort. At about 08:10 FlyBe flight BE3123, (Dash8 G ECOC) touched down on runway 23L, eventually coming to ...

Andy, thanks for assembling and posting this guide. You must have spent an enormous amount of time and effort in putting it together. I hope to make use of it in the not to distant future when I am next down in the London area.
