Re: Boeing jet airliners

I've got a load of 707, 727, 737, and 747 taken at Kai Tak 1975-7. None of the newer stuff though. Will have a sort and try and pick some of the more unusual out.

Jetstreams anyone?

Lovely aircraft. Apologies for the quality but these were taken on (if I remember correctly) a plastic camera back in the late 60's or very early 70's. Location was Sywell and I think there might have been 2 or 3 lined up at one time (when I didn't have my camera...) http://i478.photobucket.com/albu...

Re: making comments in the photo competition topics

Just a thought but wouldn't it be possible to add a comments thread for each comp so that people can post when questions are fresh in the mind? Or is that another admin nightmare... Have to say I love the photos but I'm not as regular a visitor as I'd sometimes like so I hope you can see where I'm c...

Re: SPOTM March 2015 - Trijets

Apologies for the quality, but it's quite a rare bird. Chinese Trident at Kai Tak in 1976. Couldn't always get down to the fence in time for photos so virtually all were taken from the window of my room overlooking the airport. http://i478.photobucket.com/albums/rr148/waghorn41/forum%20stuff/CAAC%20...

Re: a gaggle of CL44s

Glad you like them, unfortunately I haven't cared for the negs as much as I should so the quality is not too good after 39 years. All taken in 1976 from the window of my room at RAF Kai Tak.

I know I took a photo or two of the CV880 and think this is one of them. Note different engines and the nose down attitude of the nearest aircraft. Think the tail is thinner too. I may be wrong and it was a long time ago.

A couple from far Cathay

Still sorting through piles of negatives and found these. Cathay Pacific 707 and Convair 880 by the blast fence outside the HAECo hangars. CP only had a couple of the Convairs left when I was there, New 747s and Tristars were coming on stream. Second picture is BOAC/British Airways 747 during the li...

Re: A few old Gulfstreams

Apart from 'The Wind Ship' which I went up to the fence to photograph all the rest were taken from my room at Kai Tak. Had a great view across the airport and the (in)famous approach.

Re: A few old Gulfstreams

Glad you like the old stuff, as for the Canadian C130 I've got a photo of 3 of them lined up at Kai Tak! Not sure if it's permitted here as they're military but maybe the mods won't notice ;)

Hong Kong Aero Club Piper PA28-140

Just wondering if any forumites might have a photo of this aircraft circa 1976 - it's the one I took my flying lessons in at Kai Tak. Reg might be VR-HGB but not sure  (My log book is packed away in storage for now)
