Very nice selection Andy.

And being one for a challenge -

Modlin Jest OK is Polish for Modlin is ok. Modlin is one of Warsaw's airports. (Thanks Google!)

Very nice Mike - the low level angle works to good effect. Well caught especially without a tripod.

Re: Recent Montgomery movements

Maybe a bit tight sometimes but then like any picture, it is often down to personal opinion. I try to mix and match with my own photos (not that I post many). At least this side of the "dividing line" you won't get "slagged off" (hopefully!). From a subject point of view I shall miss your rare & exo...

Cracking set there Dan. I have to make do with sightings over London Mon-Weds so I hope the wind changes them back to 27 this week. LCY doesn't offer the same inbound quality!

Nicely caught gem!

When did they "realign" the runway to 04/22? I know this happens from tie to time as magnetic poles change.

Re: Heathrow in the early 1970s - some scanned slides

Totally agree - fabulous post. Some of these take me back to my first visits to LHR - not that I've done many visits over the years but I did start out on Queen's and T2. Airports aren't what they used to be.

Re: Heathrow in the early 1970s - some scanned slides

No need for criticism in my opinion - they are what they are - scanned film of classic aircraft. Image quality for these situations is far less important than the subject. Tridents, 727s, Il-18 - thanks again for more pure nostalgia.

More great nostalgia Andy - thanks. A bit of sleuthing has revealed your unid'd Jetranger as G-BAKF.

Sadly by the time I started venturing as far as Kidlington, it was a case of look over the fence. Oh for that time machine...!

Aahhh those were the days - 1-11, 727, DC-10 and good views too. Only recall one visit to spot at Gatwick from the terrace but great spotting. Have a few slides somewhere but not that good if I remember. And how about Queen's Building at LHR...!

Thanks Mike - can see it now I've cleaned my specs! Interesting reading - shame all three G- are no longer current. Only ever say one and that was G-APRR sitting in the grass at Elstree back in the 1980s.
