Big 2 metre RV-8 (plug and play)

RV-8 in action at the Weston Park Model Airshow a few weeks ago. At 2 metres this is a big floaty foamy. Looking forward to trying out the night version myself soon.

NEW Swiss J3 Cub from HobbyKing

Great fun filming this new J3 Cub in action. Unbox, assemble and fly. The air to air sequence at the end is by far my favourite bit. Jason and I are getting quite good at that now!

Durafly Tundra v2 STOL aircraft

The Tundra is back with some shrewd improvements that will make it more durable than it's predecessor. I highlight these and throw it about in the air during it's maiden flight.

Rubber band dh Tiger Moth conversion to RC

A rubber band free flight De Havilland Tiger Moth kit converted to radio controlled electric power...and it flew so well. This 18 inch / 460mm wingspan kit is available from Vintage Model Company (https://www.vintagemodelcompany.com/tiger-moth.html) and takes very little time to build apparently. Wi...

Ford Trimotor "THE TIN GOOSE" North American 3 Engine Mail Transport

Sharing a video I shot of a unique scale aircraft I've not seen modelled before. The interior matched the excellent detail on the exterior and it was nicely flown on the day by its owner. This 1:6 scale Trimotor has a 4 metre wingspan and was designed and constructed by Joachim Damrath. The radial e...

British Airways Freewing AL37 RC twin 70mm EDF Airliner

Takes about 1 hour to assemble and then quite a bit of effort to apply the custom scheme. A combination of automotive paint and decals. Flying this EDF jet is very easy compared to other RC jets. Flies like a trainer and slows down nicely for a flared landing.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKdbrhK...

Micro Douglas DC-3 Dakota (with retracts & lights)

Another creation from depron wizard Jürgen Schönle. This Douglas DC-3 Dakota features retracts and navigation lights. These micro RC aircraft take significant effort to build. Jurgen told me that some of the individual parts can take 10 attempts to create because the 0.2mm depron material used is so...

Giant Airbus A380 Airliner (Father and Son project)

Filmed this moment at Airliner Treffen in Germany. Built by Father and Son. Think they were quite happy after this flight.

Jurgen shows us another of his scratch built, ultra light, creations at the Leipzig Modell-Hobby-Spiel trade fair. This Catalina weighs in at only 38g and is 1:48 scale. Features differential power from the 2 motors and a light system. He even flies it off water ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0OE...

Super scale Pilatus PC-21 turboprop

The Pilatus PC-21 is a turboprop-powered advanced trainer with a stepped tandem cockpit. The full size aircraft is manufactured by Pilatus Aircraft of Switzerland. This model kit is manufactured by Tomahawk Design in Germany. In the air it looks and sounds no different to the full size aircraft. It ...

Giant scale MD-11 airliner. Good flight but bad landing

A very nice flight of this MD-11 nearly ended in disaster with the less than graceful landing. Failure to flare resulted in the nose wheel touching down just before the mains and pitching the aircraft up into an unrecoverable stall. This McDonnell Douglas MD-11 Martinair Cargo has 1 turbine engine. ...

De Havilland DH.91 Albatross Passenger Airliner

Fantastic DH.91 built and flown by Peter Harbusch. At 1:8 scale and 4 metres wingspan and 2.7 metres length this is a large scale model which looks impressive in the air. Take off weight is ~20 kg. The wing profile is NACA 2415. The four motors are brushless 1000W with 15x8 vario-prop. 5 x 5S-5000 l...

Avios Albatross HU-16 Flying Boat 1620mm (63.7") PNF

Never owned a flying boat. Just a handful of parts in the box so very quick to assemble. Electronics all installed, servos already hooked up to control surfaces and decals applied. Just drop in RX, setup your radio and ready to go. Parts review and Assembly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gJvCbakvK...

FlyFly Beechcraft DUKE B60 twin

Took James a while to put this kit together. FlyFly kits are basically styrofoam airframes with the motor/escs thrown in so there was a lot to do. Patience paid off though and despite the excessive elevator throws it flew really well.

Kyosho Learjet EDF jet revisited

After the less than successful maiden where an overshoot on landing ripped out the landing gear, James split the ailerons for flaps and put in beech bearers to support the mains. Time for a second attempt.
