Here's my offering - taken at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta on 11 August 2017 - looking up towards the crown of the envelope as the balloon drifts over the crowd: https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4396/36469326676_0f0520795f_b.jpg Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2017 by Roger , on Flickr Good luck everyone :thumb:...

Re: Great Dorset Steam Fair 2017

Hi James

Thanks for the post - sorry not replying sooner

Yes, plenty of classic commercials there, not to mention lots of steam engines large and small!

That Frome truck looks immaculate - not too far from you - a bit further from me........................

Great Dorset Steam Fair 2017

Dusted off the Passport to travel in to Darkest Dorset for the Great Dorset Steam Festival, near Blandford Forum, on Friday 25 August. First time I've been to the Fair for the best part of 20 years, and it was far better than I could remember from my last visit - no doubt the sunny weather helped, a...

Re: Friday morning at Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2017

Thanks Andy. Although I live relatively close (about an hours drive), the difference in the weather at home and in Bristol can be massive - so you'd need to think about a weekend in Bristol to try and see at least one launch! I think 140 balloons lifted on the Friday morning. Entry to the Fiesta is ...

Re: Friday morning at Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2017

Thanks Pete :thumb: It's a great event, but as you said, it can get so crowded - especially for a Night Glow. The time I went for a Night Glow, there were announcements over PA saying everyone must be off site by (I think) 11.30 that night. I walked back to the car park but didn't bother starting th...

Brief at Bristol

On the way home from the Balloon Fiesta (Pics here: http://www.civilianaviation.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=28737), I made a quick stop at Bristol Airport in the hope of photographing the Freebird and Air Europa flights landing and/or departing from the Airport. 1. https://farm5.staticflickr.co...

Friday morning at Bristol Balloon Fiesta 2017

With the weather forecast looking favourable, I made the late decision to head up to Ashton Court on the outskirts of Bristol to photograph the morning ascent on day 2 of the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta. Clear skies at the start gave way fairly early on to overcast conditions, then another c...

Bristol (again!) - Saturday 17 June 2017

With the forecast of cracking weather, and some of the display items from Weston Super Mare Air Show basing themselves at Bristol over the weekend, I made yet another trip to Winters Lane alongside Bristol Airport. Some of the more interesting aircraft turned off the runway well before the 'viewing ...

When I get there early enough, I park just inside the start of the lay-by at the 09 end - far enough in not to cause a hazard to other vehicles using the road

Thanks
I use a ladder that is 26 inches from floor to top platform step, plus my height is 5' 8".

Hope this helps

Re: Bristol - 21 May 2017

Thanks James.

Have to admit I photographed just about every EZY movement on Sunday, using it as practice for the fast approaching first Air Show of the season for me.

The BMIs were in and out a fair bit on Sunday, so seems to be business as usual.

Bristol - 21 May 2017

With the prospect of seeing an Eastern Airways J41 Jetstream and a TUI 737 among others, I decided on yet another day 'up North' at Bristol Airport - well it's North from here  Flights were using Runway 27 in the morning, but changed to 09 in the afternoon, and that lovely backdrop of Clevedon,...

Re: Bristol-Lulsgate : 10th May

Nice and clear background, unlike when I went up there for the 787 last weekend!

Great timing with the Hare - saw them running around last Saturday, but never got them in the photo.

Thanks for posting
