Re: A few Tristars for Southside
Fabulous! I'd forgotten how fantastic the Gulf Air scheme was. Back then you took seeing them for granted. I know time moves on but you really couldn't beat Heathrow back in the 70s and 80s when you consider all the different aircraft types that visited and all the places you could legitimately go t...

Re: Gatwick 1980
Thanks Paul for those. Some fantastic aircraft and memories there. You've even got a picture of my all time fave - the Braniff 747! I only saw one and that was on divert into Manchester in the good old days when if London was fog bound Manchester got all kinds of exotic airlines visiting. Living on ...

Must admit I preferred the Guppy. Ive got a pic of it with a Laker DC10 at Manchester some time in the late 70s early 80s. Any reason the Guppy used to go into Manchester and not Chester?

Re: gatwick airport in the 1980s & 90s
Great variety of aircraft types in those images. That's when spotting was fantastic fun. You never knew what was on approach and where it could've come from. I don't spot anymore but still have an interest. I went to LHR recently but only lasted a couple of hours as it was an incessant parade of Boe...

Only visited White Waltham once about 30 years ago. If memory serves me didn't they have a DC3 on display there? Is it still there?
