Re: Aurigny Air Services - Airline of the Channel Islands

True...can't beat a shed If I could have then I would have been straight up there with my hammer  Did a lot to lower the status of travel to the CI...they were hated by the public who saw these things replace Viscounts etc. Hardly a step forward  Still...I digress :) Nice pic.

Nice time line there

Often gets mispronounced. I'm a Guernsey man and the older of us and many Alderney locals I knew pronounce it Or-in-nee.

My first flight ever was on G-APWG in July 1968 just before British United went on strike from which they never fully recovered from.

Thanks for that :)

I thought the green of the Wessex made it an Admirals Barge. I used to see the green stripe Heron quite often, ex Royal Flight.

Re: A couple from far Cathay

The thinner tails is the aircraft turned slightly more away. Both have the 707 type fin tip LE aeriel.

Doesn't look like Convair engines

I'd put money on them both being 707's

Thank you very much

Such an elegant beast and never given the recognition it deserved.

Re: London Gatwick 747 Classics

G-BMGS was from 1986-1990 long before BCAL was taken over, it was gone, on sale to Virgin as G-VOYG. It was the only 747 bought used by BA.

Re: a couple of scanned slides from the Channel Islands May

Only a very small number of VFW.614 went into airline service and served for only a couple of years. VFW cancelled the project and bought them all back so they could cancel the support certificate. This left the 3 Luftwaffe and a later calibration machine in service, presumably operating under diffe...

The owners of the Guppy at Bournemouth reckons it will fly out this year.

No one can see this happening, but the man says it will. :pop:

AFAIK there are no other CL-44's in existence although they may be some chunks.

This one above was one of the lengthened CL-44J's :D

I see your getting a lot of response on Fight Control...where this should be I just wasted a while looking this up only to work through a list of hits that led me to this same request on Fighter control. Why do you not report back here that your are being sorted... Or just put it there alone where i...
