Biggin Hill 28-9-16

A few from Biggin Hill. The Lookout Café is fine for parking, food and toilets. Large windows inside, picnic area outside. Fine for general view across field. Fence, with large mesh. Can take ground photos through this if careful and crop where necessary. Have not seen ladders used. Aerial shots fin...

Old Aeroflot scheme

Going through some old photos, came across this Aeroflot scheme which I had forgotten. Picture must have been taken 1993. F-OGQS delivered in Dec 1992 and crashed 23 March 1994. I do not recall whether the other A310's at the time were painted similar or if this was unique. I think it looks quite go...

Re: AN-22 at Zurich

Lovely photographs. One of the top of my must see wishlist.
If I remember right, an An-22 visited Farnborough, midweek 1988, with a spare engine for something.
Heard and missed it because of cloud. Hope for another day.

Sorry, cannot help with camera advice. I enjoyed looking at these, as I do with the other wildlife pictures posted.
The best we can manage in London is Foxes and squirrels.
Thanks

Re: Popham Auster Fly In 11-09-2016

Lovely pictures, looks a nice event to go to. I have thought that other than the Microlight Fair, other events would be very low key. From your pictures, I will certainly go to more. Access has always been good at Popham. The LAA Rally (Sywell this year) also gives unrestricted access to the aircraf...

LOG Luton 15-9-16

Massive building work continues here. The view to the side of the terminal has gone, with the new extension. The multi storey car park is nearly complete. The new biz hangar, similarly is nearly done, with metal railings you can see through ! How long for ? Noted between 11.00 - 13.00 Pete. 5Y-PAA C...

Re: Hummingbird hawk-moth

Thanks for the replies. Definitely was an Angle Shade. I needed that start point to find it on the web.
I see that it is often described as looking like a withered autumn leaf.
Tough little so and so, held on the back of the car for 2 miles across London.
cheers
Pete.

Re: Hummingbird hawk-moth

Great pictures, capturing a difficult subject. Thanks. Would love to see one in my garden. Hope you don't mind if I post a puzzle picture. I recently gave a lift to this moth ? At first, I thought it was a leaf - the camouflage is ideal. Any idea ? Thanks. Pete https://c2.staticflickr.com/9/8788/290...

Try using planefinder/net as an alternative to FR24.
Looks like it was 2-MATO, a CL604.
Bet it was juicy to see !

LAA Sywell Sunday 4-9-16

Affected by the weather - I believe Friday was fine, Saturday wet, and Sunday was overcast and windy. This year, the Light Aircraft Association celebrated 70 years since it's begin as The Ultra Light Aircraft Association. For this, one marquee had some special aircraft. Nice to capture China Southern Cargo, and Thomas Cook / Hi-Fly in Flynas colours.
Smiled when I saw they had managed a small Thomas Cook heart on the winglets.
Thanks, Pete.
