Manchester Sat 22 September

Having already posted yesterday's images, I am going back a week to the 22nd. It was a dry day but well and truly clouded over. I went out early in the day which did not help on the available light situation. However, as usual I had an enjoyable couple of hours and came away with these that I hope y...

Manchester Sat 29 September 2018 - First Light

I ventured out early on Saturday and arrived near the bottom of 23L as the sun broke the horizon. I had set the ISO at auto and my first shot of the day was at 1250 and the last were between 125 and 100. There was a 2/3rds moon and I was lucky enough to get a couple of images with it in shot. I have...

Manchester Airport Sat 15 September

Here are a few clips from my visit to Manchester Airport early on Saturday morning. I think I got some of the best light of the day and was off home by 09:00. I hope you enjoy.

Re: Manchester on the 9th

Thanks Euan and James. I am really enjoying my trips out to Manchester Airport and find that even poor light gives opportunity. The Saudia was a bit further away than I intended to shoot but the sun spot-lighted it so well that I couldn't resist.

Flight BA7317 Manchester to Malaga Returns to Terminal 25.09.2018

While out at Manchester yesterday, I noticed the flight BA7317 from Manchester to Malaga taxied out to depart from runway 23L but then returned to the terminal. It later departed at 08:25. Not sure what the cause was, but there were no fire trucks or security vehicles in attendance and the aircraft,...

Dougie,

A great set made all the better when you consider the poor light. Thanks for posting.

Manchester on the 9th

I did get out to Manchester on Sunday 9 September but managed to forget that 23L wasn't in operation when I arrived. I walked further up the runway than I normally do and got some images from departures on 23R. Then shortly after 13:00 departures resumed on 23L and I found myself just a bit too clos...

Manchester Sat 1 September

My visits to Manchester Airport are becoming more frequent as I try to improve my video work. Somehow, however, I tend to walk away with more usable still images than video clips. These were taken last weekend and with the weather being so miserable today, I thought I would do some "admin" and proce...

Manchester Airport Mon 27 August 2018

Only posting a handful of shots taken early this morning in relatively low light. It was a battle to get the ISO right and the images suffer from noise due to high ISO used. The scene setter - before I wound up the ISO: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1859/43580201074_142717dd04_k.jpg Easyjet A320 G ...

An August Double Dose of Manchester

I have been lucky enough to get myself up to Manchester twice this month. Although neither day was anywhere near as bright and sunny as my July visits, I managed to get a few keepers. Saturday 4 August - shot on the South Side mound: https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1879/43398122844_aa63c7d281_k.jpg A...

Jet2 757 Short Takeoff 22 June at Manchester

I was taken by surprise when the 757 rotated well before I expected it to. Radio traffic a bit later seemed to indicate a test flight and it wasn't too long before the aircraft returned. The heat-haze was awful from quite early on that morning and when I moved to the end of 23R a while later, most o...

Manchester Airport Sat 14 July

I have been trying to learn video over the last few months and have now reached the stage where I feel comfortable enough to put something on Youtube. I popped along to Manchester Airport early on Saturday 14 July, and started shooting at about 06:00. Nothing terribly exciting, but my favourites hav...

Mike,

Thanks. Using the tripod gave me a much better success rate than I normally get - should have used it long before now!

Re: Manchester 12 May

Thanks Jon. The cursing led me to the internet to find a cure for the jittery panning. The cure seems to be to use an elastic band to pull the handle on the fluid head. I have tried it at home and it looks promising. Will nip back to Manchester to try it in the next few days.
