Re: 2016 so far - Quality not quantity!

Nice shots. Like the Air India express. Bangkok Airways flew up UB4 not far from me, rubbish weather at the time, otherwise would have been in with an outside chance of seeing. Well captured nice to see.

Re: Recent Montgomery movements

PH definitely better in my opinion. As a previous poster said all and done it is down to personal preference and I don't by any means mean to be critical. You manage to get some great air frames and I think cropping is one of those who things that is best done lightly unless you are dealing with a s...

Re: Recent Montgomery movements

PH really love the Eastern, perhaps nostalgia for the time when there were more interesting variations in airliner types. Only thing I would suggest is not to crop . If you need to, as I know you have some pretty good equipment, crop maintaining the aspect ratio unless there's is a creative need to ...

Re: Heathrow Heavies, 17/3/16 (Large Post) UPDATED

I have both the Canon 70-200 f4 Non IS and the 100-400 mk1. Would agree the 70-200 is sharp, razor sharp when the shot is right. I have had the 100-400 mk 1 about 14 months and I think it should only be expected to not be quite as sharp as the 70-200. That said I personally am surprised at how good ...

Re: Sunny Rayne 22-11-2015

Would suggest checking out the newer EF 50mm F1.8 STM lens as there are currently two models available. This version is at the price the EF 50mm Mk II was at only a while back but by all accounts is reckoned on being superior with metal lens mount and 7 rounded aperture blades compared to 5 non on t...

Re: Conington (Peterborough business) 12-11-2015

My local field 15 minutes drive away. Have spent a few hours Sunday afternoons during the summer photographing movements. Can be quite busy if the weather is good sometimes with a nice mix of types. Largest regular visitor is Citation M-ICRO. Never yet been fortunate enough to be down there when it ...

Re: RAW or JPEG?

Agree with Dan's comments. I don't shoot with the camera on multiple auto exposure. Perhaps because of the days of film when you had to make every shot count. My experience with multiple exposures with DSLR's when shooting steam trains taught me that it was better to use skill, frame the shot and ex...

Re: RAW or JPEG?

I'll have a stab that image one is raw. Contrast and colour saturation is slightly stronger. In answer to Raw or JPEG, it has to be Raw, the control that you have of the original image is in a completely different league. Many moons ago I used to develop film and print in the darkroom. Shooting JPEG...

Re: Tupolev Family Airliners

Fortunate enough to fly on a CSA TU-134 from Prague to London in April 1977. Nice aeroplane to fly in. Was 1989 before I flew on another example from Riga to St Petersburg of Aeroflot. My only flight in a Tupolev 154 was the scariest flight I have ever taken. Just glad to get down that day in once p...

Nice shots Dan. Recently acquired the same lens but excepting flyovers haven't had the chance to try it out on similar heavies. Thanks for posting. Karl
