Re: Amsterdam Schiphol- April 1971

Cheers everyone for your comments/info and great stories! I've got some more from Schiphol which I'll post up soon. Mike- you were right about how vast the place was even then-You've reminded me that I never actually got a picture of anything landing or taking off because the runways were that far a...

Amsterdam Schiphol- April 1971

Took these at Schiphol while on a trip to Holland and Germany in 1971- (my dad took me to meet & stay with the German family he'd been billeted with near Dusseldorf at the end of WW2) - thought they might be worth a peek. PH-DNA DC9 Srs 15- I'd forgotten how short the 15 series were . https://c6.sta...

Concorde 002 @ Woodford June 1971

Hi everyone. Only ever saw Concorde 002/G-BSST (first British Concorde prototype) twice. The first time was Farnborough Sept 1970 - the weather was awful so no decent picture that day. These were taken June 71 at Woodford show- 002's first flight Apr 1969 so just over 2 years into it's flight test p...

Re: Manchester August 1970

Cheers Pete- I think these are the only Channel Airways pics I ever got. I got my camera from Dixons as well- I seem to remember a lot of people getting stuff from them- there wasn't the choice of retailers then that there is now! Regards - Pete

Re: Manchester August 1970

Cheers Mike - yes it was like that sometimes, just waiting for something/anything to land! It's hard to believe it when you look at the size of the place now.

Manchester August 1970

These are some of the earliest pictures taken with my first SLR camera- a Praktica Nova 1B- made in East Germany, if I remember rightly, and not a bad little camera for its time. My logbook says these were taken on the saturday of the August bank holiday weekend - slightly different to current volum...

Re: NASA B747 & Shuttle at Heathrow

I was on a boat (on a fishing trip) in the Firth of Clyde, just south of the Isle of Bute on the day it returned back to the US. We thought it was going to overfly Prestwick just to the south of us, so I had my camera on the boat ready, only to see it pass very high up to the north of us! Got one sh...

Hi from Lancashire

Hi everyone-my name is Pete- I’m from St Annes on the Lancashire coast. Been an aviation fan on and off since school in the early 70’s. Been a regular guest visitor to this site and Fighter Control for a couple of years now, so I thought it’s about time I officially joined in. I’ve recently bought a...
