Snowy Manchester 1 March 2018

Drove over to Manchester to catch the swiss A340 which was due to depart from Air Livery. Due to the weather it didnt leave (the beast from the east was in full flow at the time-minus 2 with a 40 mph easterly wind - felt like minus 9). Stuck around for a couple of hours -just a few from the visit wi...

Some nice late afternoon sun on those shots-know what you mean about the mud-was down that end last month-walking boots totally covered in mud-wellies next time I think!

Re: Some Sunday OTT traffic from West Lancs

Fantastic shots! Had Flightradar on and binoculars out here in St Annes on Sun afternoon myself-crystal clear skies for a change- thought you might be taking advantage of it-best day weatherwise we've had for quite some time.
Keep them coming!

Antonov AN22 Manchester 1 December

Had a quick trip over to Manchester to catch this. Never seen one before. Lovely sunny morning, but typically, the sky started to cloud over just as it arrived. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4584/38069213834_fcbccc7846_b.jpg UR-09307(1) by Peter Rowe , on Flickr https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4524/...

BBC Children in Need-Team Rickshaw challenge

Caught up with the rickshaw team yesterday afternoon (13 Nov) while they were travelling through a rural part of Lancashire, on their way from Salford to Morecambe. Matt Baker from The One Show was leading , and Greg from Dunfermline was pedalling the rickshaw. They're tackling the Lake District as ...

Re: Grey day at Manchester

Even without the blue skies not a bad set. Can't beat a 747 just at "wheels off" - I can almost hear the engines! Cheers Nighthawke - could'nt believe how little runway it actually used- it got off the ground in about the same distance as the Legacy in the prev picture- impressive stuff, and they'r...

Grey day at Manchester

Had a walk down to the take off end of 23L last week (3 Nov) to try some shots as aircraft lifted off the runway. First time I've been down that end of the runway. Was a really dull cold morning and just got darker as the morning went on. Nothing special subject wise, but I thought they might be wor...

Re: For the Young Ones - What A/C am I taken FROM??

I'm sure I recognize this as well-I flew on one of these on my first holiday abroad in 1975 -Manchester to Gerona (stayed in Lloret de Mar)-lovely big windows and the seats were arranged in pairs either side of the aisle, facing both forward and backwards with a table between (like they are now on t...

Re: Nostalgic spotting gear............

I'm going to dig out some old Air Pictorials & Aircraft Illustrated mags (remember those?) to see if I can find any ads for airband receivers. In the meantime here's a pic of my trusty Sharp receiver- is this the one? Bought circa 1976 -about £10 if I remember- very battered but amazingly still work...

G-OZBB taxing in at Blackpool very early in the morning in April 1998 to pick charter passengers up- Monarch were occasional visitors to Blackpool, and they also ran short lived scheduled services (Malaga was one destination if I remember right) round about 2002. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4479/...
