Re: Grey day at Manchester

Even without the blue skies not a bad set. Can't beat a 747 just at "wheels off" - I can almost hear the engines! Cheers Nighthawke - could'nt believe how little runway it actually used- it got off the ground in about the same distance as the Legacy in the prev picture- impressive stuff, and they'r...

Grey day at Manchester

Had a walk down to the take off end of 23L last week (3 Nov) to try some shots as aircraft lifted off the runway. First time I've been down that end of the runway. Was a really dull cold morning and just got darker as the morning went on. Nothing special subject wise, but I thought they might be wor...

Re: For the Young Ones - What A/C am I taken FROM??

I'm sure I recognize this as well-I flew on one of these on my first holiday abroad in 1975 -Manchester to Gerona (stayed in Lloret de Mar)-lovely big windows and the seats were arranged in pairs either side of the aisle, facing both forward and backwards with a table between (like they are now on t...

Re: Nostalgic spotting gear............

I'm going to dig out some old Air Pictorials & Aircraft Illustrated mags (remember those?) to see if I can find any ads for airband receivers. In the meantime here's a pic of my trusty Sharp receiver- is this the one? Bought circa 1976 -about £10 if I remember- very battered but amazingly still work...

G-OZBB taxing in at Blackpool very early in the morning in April 1998 to pick charter passengers up- Monarch were occasional visitors to Blackpool, and they also ran short lived scheduled services (Malaga was one destination if I remember right) round about 2002. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4479/...

Some great aircraft/liveries there-love the jet blue's (especially the the 2nd one with the 'tartan' tail!), and of course the last one. Pete.

Manchester 17/7/17

A few from Manchester today. Only my second ever visit to the southside with my first ever DSLR (been away from proper photography for quite a number of years), so just getting back into it, and trying out the camera and lens. I think the A340 and the 767 may be golf related (The Open at Royal Birkd...

Hi- nice shots and a great historical story.
(It would be a good subject for a themed photo topic-I'll bet loads of people have Fokker pics going way back!)
Thanks for posting

Re: SPOTM April 2017, Aircraft with airfield support vehicle

This one is from back in 1984 from an August bank holiday trip to Manchester Airport (Saturday 25 August 1984). G-AVMY (BAC 1-11 BA) had just landed, and was taxiing in when it stopped suddenly and was surrounded by the fire vehicles. A quick inspection by the fire crews, and it continued to its sta...

Heron at sunset 31/3/17

Just managed to snatch a quick shot of this heron enjoying the sunset this evening on my neighbours roof (probably using its vantage point to stake out garden ponds!). Its a lot bigger than the usual birds we see around here. https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2829/32947404193_670f2e51ef_b.jpg IMG_0580 b...
