Re: Stansted from the south side 10-8-2014

I collect them!!!!!  I started collecting them in the late 1980s a bit by accident. I used to write the Heathrow movements for the Stansted Aviation News magazine, there might even be one or two on here who used to read it - certainly PorkScratching (Nick Challoner) did as he used t...

Re: August 2014, photo of the month competition

It's the 11th of the month and nobody has entered yet, so lets kick it off with this one for now so there is something for everyone to look at. With multiple airshows at the end of the month I may well change it later.... EDIT - I have changed it, to this one of the 2 spartans at Little Gransden on ...

voting reminder for SPOTM & POTM, July competitions

There are 24 hours left for you to vote in the July Specialist Photo Of The Month (SPOTM) polls. Please remember that this month we are trialling a 3 ‘graded votes’ system where you can select your first, second and third choices rather than 3 equal choices. There is a separate poll for each choice:...

Re: Stansted from the south side 10-8-2014

Thanks guys.

I missed the arrival of the Asiana 747 while sheltering from the rain, but another guy stuck it out under his brolly and got a super shot of it landing with masses of spray. Apart from the rain it was a good afternoon for Stansted

Stansted from the south side 10-8-2014

I spent most of today at Stansted attending the annual police planewatch day (http://www.essex.police.uk/about/plane_watch.aspx ). The morning was spent at the Hilton with various presentations and then in the afternoon we were taken to a restricted area on the south side for a spotting / photograph...

a drink or something to eat at the Chinese restaurant is probably cheaper than the airport carpark.

Sorry I cannot be of more help but I either walk or use the bus so not sure about parking.

Re: Bristol-Lulsgate - 8th August

a nice set, thanks for sharing them. my favourite is the Aurigny ATR, nice bit of prop blur and sunlight on the aircraft. the tiffies are fine, when we amended the rules we set 10% as a guideline and you are spot on, it's nice to know that Lulsgate gets those more unusual visitors from time to time ...

Re: Duxford 11-7-14, Super Constellation HB-RSC

Gary - I asked the crew that question when I went on board at duxford, they simply said it was for ventilation as it got quite warm and 'stuffy' in side so they like to get the door open as soon as possible

a nice set, thanks for sharing. Is there anywhere to park on the north side? I have always paid through the nose to use the airport car park on the south side

Re: Sunny Stansted 3/7/14 (Pic heavy)

The new 'boeing-type' scheme on EI-DCL is nice but the old one made that aircraft instantly recognisable. I flew back from bologna a year or so ago and as soon as I saw it landing I knew which one i was going home on!

Thanks Nick - I've missed too many evenings this summer and must get back before the evenings draw in to much.
Are you going to the planewatch event on Sunday?

thanks, just seen your comment while I was looking for something else. It was a long day due in part to the M25 being in long stay car park mode but well worth it and a day I shall remember for quite some time, i like helicopters but rarely see this many in a month let alone one day :D

Re: Small collection of Civ Aircraft

If you want to buy a book on digital photography right from basics there are plenty about (have a look in your local library) but one I would personally recommend is by Scott Kelby: The digital photography book. http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Digital-Photography-Book-Pt/dp/0321934946/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8...
