Re: Fokker F27 F-BUFA

Good picture - unfortunately never to be seen again at LHR. As well as blue and green, what other colours did TAT display on their F27's?

Re: Fokker F27 F-BUFA

Hi Mike, just seen the rest of your post! Yes, I knocked it over before the new terminal opened, as that's how we did the training whilst the stands were empty. Colin Mitchell was there too (I think) when it happened. It was the BAA loaders and some technical services (?) that righted it - there was...

Re: Fokker F27 F-BUFA

It was Leuchars Mike. Photography was always difficult as the crowd-line always faced directly into the sun. Did you ever fly on Air Anglia F27's...?

Re: Fokker F27 F-BUFA

Thanks Pete.

Another heavy smoker - it isn't good for your health (seen here in more ways than one!!). I know it's military, but it's an F27....

Not a great picture, I know, but you'll never see this again at an airshow!

Re: Fokker F27 F-BUFA

It was early 1977 when I pushed the catering truck over....don't think it was one of yours though....there were 2 catering companies at Edinburgh - could it have been a Trust Houses Forte....I just can't remember. They told us whilst training that an air jetty weighed 50 tons, and would stop immedia...

Re: Fokker F27 F-BUFA

Hi Mike, good to hear from you again. Stuart Drummond was the Dan-Air engineer who looked after the Comets. He used to pull them over to the Ferranti hangar from the old terminal and latterly the new terminal. Behind the nose undercarriage bay, there was a small hatch that gave access to the electri...

Fokker F27 F-BUFA

A pleasing study of this Fokker F27-200 taken at Edinburgh in 1976. I remember at the time I couldn't help thinking that the windows were all nicotine stained, as the 4 flight crew immediately lit up Gauloise when they arrived in the crewroom. Things weren't much better with the outgoing passengers,...

Another Long Shot - Mike?

Dan Air Comet 4C, Edinburgh - Tenerife - Edinburgh 3rd April 1977 (the day Los Rodeos opened following the terrible disaster). I think it was G-BDIX, but it may have been G-BDIW.....

Re: Real Long Shot - Sabena B707 Edinburgh Spring 1977

I think the 2 of you could write a good book together - or do a 2 man touring show - 'tales from the air-bridge' or similar! excellent reading   Jack Williamson, Scottish (well from Lochgelly, Fife) Air Anglia line engineer at EDI on F27's "Hey Chiefy, there's nae ile in the gearbox!!" ...

Re: Real Long Shot - Sabena B707 Edinburgh Spring 1977

Oh............my............God.   I went out to a Monarch 720 that was just arriving on that stand, to help out our catering loaders. It was late at night and it had to be turned around within 30/40 minutes to beat the night-time curfew extension that had been requested, if we coul...

Re: Real Long Shot - Sabena B707 Edinburgh Spring 1977

You didn't sit that one on it's ar*e as well, did you?  1. I was one of the first peeps to have a licence for the air jetty. After an early shift starting at 06:00. I was asked to stay on to put the air jetty on the B707 when it arrived at 19:00..... 2. Got sent to see Liam in the bar at...

Re: Real Long Shot - Sabena B707 Edinburgh Spring 1977

The only Sabena 707 I have in my Edinburgh log for 1977 is OO-SJC on 03/10/77, it may have been operated by Sobelair though :- http://www.skystef.be/B707/OO-SJC.htm Hi Mike, that's it!!! Couldn't have been the Spring, as the new airport didn't open until May.....i just remember it being cold.... .....

Real Long Shot - Sabena B707 Edinburgh Spring 1977

I think this was the only visit - bringing VIP's to meet with Edinburgh City Council.

Arrived at the (then) new terminal I think Stand 4

Really appreciate this!

One nearest the camera is Lockheed L-188 Electra. The one behind (& the couple of access doors also visible) is dH Comet 4........I'm humbled to have the Comet ones as there can't be many about!

Hi Mike, it's from the Tu-154. I didn't know about the crash, the panel has just been sitting in the barn for over 10 years.....maybe shouldn't have posted this in the circumstances
