Re: SPOTM August 2023 - permanently closed airfields

My entry is a Trident 2E, 5B-DAB, of Cyprus Airways taken at Nicosia Airport. This aircraft was damaged during the Turkish invasion in July 1974, and was still there when I took the photo in April 2008. https://live.staticflickr.com/490/31459007374_a089bdc67f_b.jpg by Alan Paterson , on Flickr

Nice shot.
Hope you enjoyed the BC Museum. A lovely old Viscount there.
Pete.
Indeed. It’s a lovely museum, and nice friendly folk there. The Viscount is a beauty. Can only imagine what it would have been like to have flown in that era.

Caught this little beauty hiding in a corner beside the Spitfire Grill at Victoria Airport, BC, before visiting the BC Aviation Museum earlier this month.

Re: SPOTM December 2022 - the Bell 206 and it's derivatives

This is only photo I have of a Bell 206, just before it flew us over the Grand Canyon in November 2011. Only the second helicopter I’ve flown on, the other being a Chinook in the early 1990s down in the Falkland Island; never been on one since unfortunately. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52573...

Nice surprise to read that the Antonov was going to be transiting over Elgin this morning. Excellent shots Alan, that's some lens you have there as it makes the hills on the Black Isle look like they're only a few hundred yards away! :) :thumb:
Cheers Mike. Just a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary on a D850.

LX-GVV

I was out walking the dog at Torrieston Walks, a few miles west of Elgin this afternoon and heard an unfamiliar sound overhead. Unfamiliar as I’m used to Typhoons flying round the area. On looking up I caught this on its way to Inverness. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49498797402_c8931a28bd_b....

One from Sep 19, not the greatest photo but not one I’d seen before.

Fiji Airways Airbus A330-200 DQ-FJV at LAX.

With the new ATRs about to enter service we could be longing to see the little Saab a little bit longer.
